I know 3.0 comes with bluetooth but is the development of adding more advance features to the 2G "bluetooth" still around?

They were gonna continue the project because not much was allowed in the 3.0 firmware, last time I heard.

Yes, there is work being done on it. Look in the forum, iPod touch 2G Jailbreak: redsn0w, 24kpwn, etc.. The only work done now is mostly small proof-of-concept apps, but nothing too big just yet. But in a few months it may progress further.

I was just wondering if it would be possible in the near future to use the internet connection from your mobile phone to ur ipod touch through bluetooth?

it depends. some phones (like mine) can be detected as a modem through bluetooth. Usually carriers don't like you tethering your connection so they make it hard to though.
