I have a ipod touch 2g and have a vista computer.
My ipod touch is on firmware 2.2.1 and is jailbroken with quickfreedom
I want to move to 3.0 but i can't seem to be able to find a right video showing so, most videos say to move to 3.0 you NEED a ipod ouch with firmware 3.0 already installed???

same as mine .. killer! i think first thing to do is to upgrade it to 3.0 original firmware.. then jailbreak it with redsn0w 0.8.

You just need the firmware for 3.0, which up until a little while ago you could have downloaded from iTunes. I'm not sure where you could get it now, although Im sure with a little persistance you could find it. You have to do a restore to 3.0, then jailbreak it using redsn0w 0.8 It will give you instructions as you go.

Go to the dev team blog and dl redsnow .8, or whatever version they're on now. Update in iTunes to the 3.0 firmware, make sure you know where the ipsw is stored on your pc. Find the zip file for redsnow, extract it and run the redsnow executable file. It will ask you to point to the firmware CURRENTLY on your iPod. Point it to the 3.0 ipsw file that you were supposed to remember where it was saved. Let it do it's thing. What's better about redsnow is that when you jailbreak, you won't lose any apps, music, videos, or anything from your ipod because it jailbreaks after you update.

i dont think itunes is offering 3.0 right now. they are showing 3.1.1 which isn't jailbreakable at the moment. So don't update to 3.1.1 yet

Hey mate can you guy us some links and etc

I have checked some guides, but they say you need to have to be on 3.0 to get the custom 3.0 firmware, shall i update to 3.0 orginal apple firmware and then go to the custom 3.0 firmware?

Yes, you have to update to the apple 3.0 software, then run redsn0w 0.8 to be jailbroken. You cant jailbreak with the 3.0 until it's updated to 3.0 in the first place.
