    Hello,

I just got a 32gb 1G iPod Touch for Christmas. It is version 1.1.5 (4B1). I am curious as how to go about "JailBreaking" the little beast.

Do I NEED to upgrade to Version 2? If I do not need to, SHOULD I and why?

If I am planning on jailbreaking, what advantages would version 2 bring me, or would it be pointless?

    Thanks!

you dont need to, but you should.

if you sync it with itunes, itll tell you you need to update.
you can purchase the update for 10$, OR get it...'other' ways.

    i'd suggest the latter.

make sure you get 2.2, not any of the other 2.x firmwares.
2.2 is the most stable, and unlike the 1.x firmwares, it has the app store.

Also, most jailbroken applications are being developed for 2.x only now.
