Hey, just wondering what you guys think is the best idea...

to get a 1G touch and jailbreak it or get a 2G touch and wait for a jailbreak to be available?

    Thanks.

of course, if price is also a concern, you are likely to find 1Gs for much cheaper, and guaranteed jailbreakability.

i got the 2g and ive never used the 1g but if the sound quality and gui are the same and on the price of the 8 gig 2g u can get the 16 or 32 gig 1g depends where ur from....
i'd go for the 1gen...u wont use the very weak speaker and the volume control r nice but i would go with larger capticity

    I've had a 1g jailbroken and now a 2g.

The 2g is leaps and jumps better than the 1g and IMO JB'ing is completely over hyped.

LOL I use mine ALL the time!

I have never played a game using freakin' cords and earbuds since owning my beloved 2g.

I will second that... jailbreaking does not really offer more then what the 2g can offer on its own. customizable backgrounds and icons... oh kay... not that important... emulators ? well... i have a DS and a PSP that play everything else i want and are a little easier for gaming as they were designed for it.

I am yet to see what real benefit the JB will have when it comes out. So for the moment, i am happy with my 2g and the potential it holds. with the new firmware release, it seems to be improving it.

spend the extra $$'s and get the 2g, you will be happier in the long term

yeah i would only use jb'ing for:
1)themes- fun but i can live without it
2)mxtube- im on the go but i can sync a movie/video through itunes
3)safari dl plugin- i will miss this alot. like A LOT!
4)pwnplayer (maybe)- meh... i only like that you can dl free directly through the ipod and play it and the lockscreen controls, but ill use itunes more
5)something else that ill get banned for but i can dl the free apps

2G. For reasons already stated. Plus the 1G feels really laggy to me now.

It's really noticeable isn't when you use a friends 1g how laggy it is compared to yours.
