I had a broken screen on the original touch....I took it apart switched out the glass screen put everything back together.....and when going to put the back case back on the power button does not want to work everything else does...Im wondering how exactly the power button works as far as mechanics im guessing this little wire makes a contact to the gold plate on the board but regardless what i try i cannot get the button to work. I'm wondering if there is a trick when putting it back together that i am missing.

Yes, that "little wire" is called a ribbon cable which most likely lost contact with the gold plate. Have you considered soldering the ribbon cable to the gold plate so it can make contact?

Also, http://www.ifixit.com may be of some help to you. They're the ones with the step-by-step dis-assembly guides and the ones that offer useful tools like the pry tool and so forth. They might have a guide on this or some other sort of help possibly.
