    Haiii,

So i have an iPod Touch running on the Official FW from apple, the 3.0 and i got the Black Screen after Respringing from SBSettings. So then i put my iPod into DFU and Restored it to the original Firmware, No Jailbreak. Then i really hate 3.0 Cause i can't do anything, So i felt like downgrading to 2.2.1. So then i put my iPod Touch into DFU, The BlackScreen. Then i restore from iPod1,1_2.2.1_5H11_Restore.ipsw that is 248.1 MB
I am not sure of the size of the .ipsw.......
Then when i restore it, I get Error 20

    What should I do?
And if the Firmware is not the right side....Please Tell me the right size of it.

    Thanks in Advance

the latest iTunes will not allow the downgrade for some reason, some people have said the best iTunes to use is version 8.0, I tried to downgrade just after using 3.0 but since I couldn't with the latest version I never bothered to try again but yeh there is a thread on downgrading on here for both mac's and windows

Well, looks like your 2.2.1 firmware is the correct size... but I too had a problem with dfu restore after i moved to 3.0... i used idevice.exe from the xpwn package and entered dfu mode through that (you will see a white screen, not a black one)... in any case, i suggest u do a little lookup on the forums before posting such queries... there are stickies explaining how to downgrade from 3.0 to 2.2.1...

Ok.... So i got to put my iPod Touch 1G into DFU Mode and itunes 8.2 detects it after holding the home button for 30 seconds. But while i was doing that, I didn't even see the Apple Logo Either the Connect to Itunes picture. it was always black.

Anyways, after doing that, i pressed Alt+Restore(Running on Mac OS X 10.5.7)
I selected my iPod1,1_2.2.1_5H11_Restore.ipsw that is 248.1 MB and then after the Extracting software, i get error 1600

I dont know what to do...Help me if you can, Please?

    Thanks again!

thats what DFU mode is. you just get a black screen and you cannot turn the ipod on

like andybno2 said, you might need to downgrade itunes to 8.0

to downgrade from 3.0 to 2.2.1 you do not need to downgade itunes.... you need to enter into DFU mode where you will see a white screen. Follow the instructions in the Mac Only enter that DFU mode... after that you need to connect to iTunes and install 2.2.1 and it will work without error 1600

DFU mode, and use an earlier version of iTunes, like 8.1.
