My 32Gb touch is only 2 weeks old (from Dixons) It is a week 33 serial number though, and 1.1.4 firmware. I spoke to Dixons today explaining that many screens are bad (negative blacks) and they said they would gladly give me a full refund, as none of their stock was week 38 or newer. Should I stick with what I have (haven't played enough videos yet to know how bad or good mine is) or take advantage of the refund on offer and buy a more recent touch with higher week/serial number? New to all this, so would very much appreciate some comments. Thanks. Alan

I gather that the last 2 digits in the serial number refers to the week that the ipod touch was made, ie a serial number could look like JC10738 The '38' refers to the week of manufacture. Mine ends in '33' I gather that most touch's prior to '38' were prone to poor black colours in the video playback. As I have the chance of replacing a 33 with a '46' I am wondering if that is the best option for me?
