    Hi. I just bought an iPod touch 8GB 2G and was wondering the following;

    If in the future I decide to purchase an iPhone, can I transfer my applications from my iPod to my iPhone or will I need to start all over with purchasing the same applications for the new iPhone?

    Thanks

    If you use the same iTunes account in the same computer you use to sync your iPod, well you don't have to start over. It will be the same.ΓΌ

    Ok. By iTunes account you mean same login and password right? Does Apple keep an online record of what you've downloaded and keep it there for later? I ask this because sometimes I reformat my computer (Windows XP) and I know afterwards I would have to reinstall iTunes. If I happened to reformat and then reinstalled iTunes would those apps I had paid for still be downloadable to a brand new iPhone even if they were still on the old iPod touch?

    A: yes they will be. Just click buy app and it will ask you
    "you have already purchased the app. Would you like to download it again?"
    Click yes. And there's your app. And no, you won't have to pay for the app you just bought.

    The songs and videos will need to be stored in your iTunes library first before they can be added/synced to your iPhone. You cannot transfer content directly from one device to another.

    So if all the songs and videos that are on your Nano are still in your iTunes library simply configure them to sync to your iPhone.
