Today, i checked my calender. I just was being silly, and set something, to happen everyday, all daym for maybe, 40 years or so. I did this a while back. So i click on my calender and it freezes. I simply restarted it, and now its stuck in that picture with the USB cord, pointing at the iTunes logo. I cannot sync it, since the computer it is synced to, is not functioning currently. So i plug it into another laptop I have, but it needs me to enter a passcode to sync it, but i cannot enter a passcode, since its stuck at that screen. I have no idea what to do, any help here? P.S. This iPod is a 8 gb, 1st gen. iPod touch. I did download an update for 10 bucks. I have never jailbroken it, or anything similar.
Plug it in, hold the home and power buttons until it shuts off, IMMEDIATELY after it shuts off release the power button and coninue holding the home buton until iTunes opens and tells you to restore.
Your timing has to be right. Just try again... Home+power until it shuts off Release power button and continue holding the home button until iTunes opens (about 15-30 seconds)
Nevermind, magically, i started it up, as normal, and it decided to work. Whoa, didnt want to drop over $200 for another one.
Why would you buy another one. The iPod touch is IMPOSSIBLE to brick, regardless how messed up the software is.

Yeah i keep having this problem, my is jailbroken and i DL a game and it said i had to restart my ipod, which i did and now it's stuck and now its stuck in that picture with the USB cord, pointing at the iTunes logo, i have been following these steps and it's not working!! omfg did i just ruined my Ipod Touch!? anyone can answer me this question!? or is there another alternative!?
Relax, your iPods not ruined. From the connect to iTunes screen, do this: Plug in your iPod. Hold down the home & power buttons until the screen goes black. When the screen goes black, wait 1-2 seconds, and release the power button, but keep holding the home button. Continue holding the home button until your computer beeps. When your computer beeps, open iTunes. It should say something about discovering an iPod in recovery mode. Press OK, now press the restore button. Let it restore, rejailbreak, and then youre good to go.
