IPod seems lifeless. Tell me how its not bricked!

I was using categories and all the sudden my ipod froze. I went to plug it into my computer, and usually at the bottom right it says device not recognized, then when i put it into dfu it recognizes it. this time it didnt even say it couldnt recognize it. i still tried to put it in dfu multiple times and use a boot tool but it didnt work. what should i do? i hope i havent broken it.

Try using a different USB Port, and try a different cable if you have an extra.
If that doesn't work, then just wait for somebody to give you a better answer...

    Device:
    2G iPod touch
    this method works for me:
what i do is first i terminate the 2 processes:
"ipodservice.exe" and "AppleMobileDeviceService.exe" from the task manager.
then while my iPod is connected i hold the home and power button for about
6 seconds and then let go both of them, then i hold them both again
and after about 2 seconds or so the message pops up:"the usb could not be recognized...",then wait until it disappears and let go of the power button
then wait until you hear a beep and you can restore.
this method works for me but i do not promise anything,it mighnt now work for you.
    good luck =)
