Alright, so my iPod has been running quite slow and resprings take around 1 minute and the wheel doesn't stop spinning until after around 30 seconds. It used to only be around 5 seconds.

My thought, was to go into Cydia and remove MobileSubstrate (and therefore removing all mobile substrate addons).

I could then sort of start fresh and download the only things that I need. Would this harm my iPod in any way?

I would do this, restore using itunes and rejailbreak.

Only if some addons are disabled when you uninstall MobileSubstrate.

well you could try turning them off in SBsettings, more>mobile substrate addons>off that will lighten the weight, or you can turn them completely off by turning them off in rock i think. Also remove some daemons while your at it.

when my iPod gets slow like that I restore and start fresh, no back up or anything. For example, that is how mine is right now, and I will restore to 4.0 on july and start clean.
