I have a 3rd Gen iPod with FW 3.1.2 and I shut it off today. I knew it would boot into recovery mode so I reran blackra1n. Blackra1n said that it was done correctly but my iPod won't EVER boot past recovery mode. When it is connected to my PC (Win7 x64) it reboots every 10 seconds back to recovery mode (even though it never left recovery mode in the first place).
Blackra1n tells me that the jailbreak is complete and the iPod goes to a completely black screen prior to rebooting later on automatically.
iTunes is not open and the helper process is closed.
I have tried to connect it to another PC (WinXP)that does not have iTunes installed and blackra1n just kept crashing when I tried to run the jailbreak.
    Any ideas?

um. I'm pretty sure you need iTunes installed and all the services it comes with running in order for blackra1n to work.
