I am using a 2g ipod touch on 3.0 jailbroken. When my device is not plugged into a power source, it will shut off, almost instantly, and will not turn back on until i connect it to a power source. Any advice on whats going on? I am thinking of restoring but i have a fear that this is a hardware issue...anyone know what is going on?

There is no harm in restoring it, but your hunch may be right about it being a hardware issue, it sounds like the battery has completely lost it's ability to hold charge Restore it and take it back to the apple store.

Your battery sounds screwed. When did this start happening? If it had a nasty fall or something around when it started happening maybe the battery became dislodged or damaged. In any case, I'd send it back to apple.

Heres the thig tho...it can definetly hold a cahrge still...its gone almost 2 days without charging. This seems to occur in spasms...it gets really bad then its fine then gets really bad etc. Regardless i will restore and if the problem occurs still then i will knlw for sure if its hardware or software.

So, i restored today and the problem persisted. Im planning to bring it into apple. I am wondering what apple will do tho. They could fix this one or give me a new one. It seems like this would be a pretty easy fix to me. What do you guys think?
