Ok Guys, I have looked everywhere for this, maybe someone can help.

All I want, is to be able to use the controls on my ipod, and play my tunes on my PC. I don't want to play from iTunes, because I just want to listen to the library from the ipod.

More importantly, I have the Apple dock with remote, and I like to sit back on my couch and change songs from there.

I have tried the 1/8" out port on the dock, and the quality from the input on my sound card is terrible. So I just want to use the USB connection to somehow play the audio.

PS: I have seen the Firefly Media Server ; it's not what i'm after.

    Please, Help away!!! lol

    I don't really get it :s
If you have external speakers, just plug them into the dock. If you don't (i suppose you have a notebook then), then i don't think there is another way than what you have done since the ipod dock isn't a soundcard.
