I'd rather carry my iPod touch around and when I'm in the car, it is affixed to this Kensington windshield mount. The iPod is then connected via auxiliary cable to the radio for playback of songs from the speakers.

I don't think it's safe to display an expensive item like the iPod or iPad as an in-car entertainment system since this encourages prying eyes to break-in and steal the gadget!

I already have an iPad. The dashkit is expensive to have made. And you can take the iPad in and out super easy. It just slides up and there is a hole at the top for it to come out.

I don't have an AUX input either, I'm still rocking the retro tape player in my car so I use a tape with a headphone jack cord. My FM transmitter doesn't work either, too much interference on the station, and I've tried literally every single station.

Oh. I don't have a tape player, so I guess I would have to buy a whole new radio system to play my iPhone. FM transmitter also is too much static for me. Fm transmitter sucks anyway, I must have my music high quality.

I'm not sure if you have been considering this all along, but installing an iPod/iPad in your dash still requires a head unit.

    Most people hide the HU.

If you still have the factory head unit I STRONGLY recommend this. I have last years model and the only difference is no Pandora support, and $100 when I bought it haha. Note, it doesn't have a CD player.

Unless you have a double DIN. (You have a challenger right?) I'm guessing they have a double DIN, but I would still recommend Pioneer. I haven't done any research on this but it looks interesting. This is my favorite, but its crazy expensive.

Amazon is by far the best place to get car audio too.
