I'm trying to update my jailbroken iPod touch 2g (MB) from 3.0 to 4.1, so first I decided to restore it from recovery mode. The progress bar got to around 95-98% and then it hung. It stayed there for over an hour. After unplugging it and trying again I ran into the same problem. What should I do? Please help!

I can't even fully turn it off when it's plugged in. It keeps automatically going into recovery mode.

Uninstall Wifi Sync from your computer. Reboot your computer. Restore your iPod.

Haha no problem. It is unfortunate though because Wifi Sync is a pretty awesome thing to have, not to mention a sucky thing to delete after paying $10 for it.
