Before i get flamed, let me just say that i did search and was unable to find a problem like mine...

So, i tried to turn on my ipod. For about 20 minutes, it would get to the apple logo, then slowly fade out to all white and restart. Once it finally gets to the "slide to unlock screen" one of two things has been happening. Sometimes it just freezes there. If i can unlock, it freezes as soon as my icons show up. I've tried holding the home/power buttons at the same time, but the exact same thing happens on the next restart. I'm willing to restore it, but i can't get it to act right for long enough to restore. Any ideas?

hold down the home and power buttons. When it shuts off, release, and then hold the home and power buttons again, until it starts. Keep holding them until it goes into recovery mode. Make sure you are plugged into usb.
