Somebody please help me. I have had it for a while now and it has so much custom content on it that I will lose if I get a new one. I already went to a Genius Bar, and Apple won't cover it.

    Sorry.
Try sticking it in a bag of rice.
    (not joking)
    Make sure it's dry first.
The rice should absorb the moisture.

How long do I leave it in the rice?

don't try to turn it on, completely cover it in dry rice for a day or two, maybe three, take it out and it should be fine

i would assume that since he already tried to turn it it it's done for and rice wont help because it's shorted out

still try the rice thing for a week or so maybe (i doubt it will turn on though)

just keep in mind if you ever drop any electronic in water never try to turn it on since it was short out

the chances are that it will turn on
now if you were to try to charge it that would be a different story

Put it in rice and leave it there for a long time. And dont try to turn it on. If worse comes to worse sell it on ebay for parts.

He may be negative, but he's most likely correct.
Water does not mix with electronics, and if you try turn on a wet device, it will most likely short-circuit and be wrecked.

sorry that i had to be that way but generally if you drop something in water it's best to not turn it on untill it's been in a bag of rice for a while since electronics short out if there turned on when there wet
