Apple will know that it is water damaged and wont cover it. What you should try to do is submerge it in rice and leave it for a day or two. It might help.

You'll probably need to wait longer than a couple days, since there's not a lot of openings for water vapor to escape. It took about 3 days for my mouse to dry when I washed it, it may take a couple weeks for your iPod. Though it may actually be fried if it was on when you dropped it.

If you tried to turn it on with water in there, then the chances are that you've wrecked it.

They would know if its had water damage because there's a piece of "paper" in the headphone jack that turns red when moisture gets to it. Look up in there, if its red your out of luck. Check Google on ways to "fix" the water indicator.

there's some sort of litmus paper in the headphone jack. you'll probably get a better answer than this, but the gist of it is that they have a test to check if there was water damage or not. i believe there's a trick to reseting the litmus paper after water damage, but you'll have to search or wait for a more concrete answer.

2 minute later edit: ....yea, what andyt4097 said.

I made my old Mac Classic into a fish tank, so maybe you could be the first to do with ipod touch! Maybe some seahorses!
