    Device:
    iPod touch
go into Device Manager and check for your iPod under "USB Devices" and "Cameras"
If it is under Cameras, right click it and hit Update Driver
dont connect to windows update, don't search, choose from a list
    choose the Apple one.
    Restart.
    Done.

If it is under USB devices, I have no idea...

If the above doesn't work, try connecting the usb cable to the back of the computer.

If iTunes isn't recognizing your iPod touch, try:

    (A) Unplug and replug in the USB-to-Dock cable.
    (B) Try using a different USB port.
    (C) Restart your computer, and see if iTunes recognizes it then.
    (D) Try plugging in your iPod touch into another computer, and see if iTunes recognizes it on that computer.
    (E) Reinstall iTunes, and see if iTunes recognizes it then.

    Good luck
