Every time I leave my ipod for a little while and go back to it every application I try to use stay up for a few seconds then crashes even music and safari. The only way to get it to no crash is by restarting it. Does anyone know what I can do to stop it from doing that?

    me too

im also having this problem... restore will be a good solution but it will lead us back to tthe first day we receive our touch (no apps, no games, no installer,no music, no movies).mine is in firmware 1.1.1,after restoring we'll have to jailbreak it again and what if the jailbreak method is causing the crashes. i have read in here regarding updating the firmware into 1.1.2 and also the jailbreak method for the said firmware.i wonder if that will eliminate those crash problems. could anybody confirm it? please...

It could be nice to find out what the problem is, a restore will solve it until the same problem arises again, which is most likely.

What did you guys install on your iPod?
Are you using SummerBoard with the "Dim Wallpaper" option turned on?

    That is the answer.
I've heard bad things from summerboard users on how they had to restore their iPod, so i didnt do it.
But then YESTERDAY i instaled summerboard, downloded themes, and i happen to have dim wallpaper on.
And today was the first day that music has crashed on me.
this has to be the answer.

    now the question is....

    how to fix it?

list of apps on my touch (16gb)

    soft tap keyboard
    isnake
    NES
    bigboss NES roms pack
    gpSPhone
    labyrinth
    mines
    pigshooter
    sudoku
    Tap tap revolution
    iRadio
    MusicQuiz
    Apache webserver
    HistoryDL
    WebSearch
    iStudy
    MACalc
    MobileFinder
    MobileTextEdit
    Mobile ToDoList
    Sketches
    weDict + 3 dictionaries
    BSD subsystems
    Dock
    Installer
    OpenSSH
    Summerboard
    Touch calender fix
    customize
    services
    swaptunes
    sysinfo

    yea i know i got a lot.
could it be that the system is overloading with processes? i mean, the itouch only has 116mb of memory and if im running apps in the background, could it be the cause of the crashing? or is it just the summerboard?

    thanks.

The more people that are having bad crashes like this that can provide their app lists like moonlight031982 and merchnt17, the better. That's the best way to isolate issues for the developers.

I haven't installed Summerboard and haven't had any regular crashes myself (less than 1 per week). And don't forget there's always the possibility that it could be a combination of applications that are causing your crashes (e.g., Summerboard + Customize + Maps + some other hack = crash)...
