I have a jailbroken 1.1.3 that I was going to restore back to 1.1.1.

So I did Shift+Restore, and selected the 1.1.1 firmware.

It said that the iPod could not be restored, so I just tried to restore it normally back to 1.1.3, said the same thing.

Basically, I'm stuck in recovery mode, no way out. Any ideas?

Try iBrickr, windows.bat, or iphuc to force your iPod out of recovery mode.
If you are using iphuc, type in these commands with your iPod plugged in:
    cmd setenv auto-boot true
    cmd saveenv
    cmd fsboot

Alright, this thread can be deleted, I found the solution.

Simply restart the computer, that should take care of it.

Was having the same problem. Saw that windows had closed applemobiledeviceservice.exe, so I restarted iTunes to get that service running again and everything is fine...
