My iPod touch 3G has been doing some funny things.

I jailbroke it using blackra1n, and it went smoothly.

The problem is, every once in a while my ipod screen will just shut off and go back into recovery mode.
It doesn't matter what I'm doing either; it's happened while I'm on the internet, playing games, playing music, everything.
I know blackra1n is a tethered jailbreak, so don't tell me please.
I just hate having to reboot every single time it happens, and sometimes when it happens I'm no where near a computer..

I can't figure out what's wrong, and I've even restored it twice!

Here's all that I have on my mobile substrate add-ons:
    infinidock
    PreferenceLoader
    Winterboard
    libhide

    Here's the apps/tweaks I've downloaded:
    Alarm Tunes Lite
    Backgrounds (not backgrounder)
    Bing
    Hottest App
    iWallpapers
    LineUp
    Photobucket
    Facebook
    Myspace
    Skype
    Sol Free
    UnblockMeFree
    Wallpapers
    PhotoFunia
    Rock
    SBSettings
    Winterboard.

I don't know if the problem lies within an app or what..
but please help me out if you can.
This is my third time or so trying to get this answer,
and the help would be VERY much appreciated!

Did you download cydia, rock, and icy at the same time when you went onto the black ra1n app after you jailbroke it? If so, then you iPod will be faulty. Restore it and download what you want from black ra1n one at a time and your problem will be fixed.

That actually sounds like a hardware problem.

No, I didn't download Rock and Cydia at the same time.
I have Cydia, but I downloaded it after I already had that problem..
    Icy is no longer available.

I really hope it's not a hardware problem.

Sounds like you have a memory leak somewhere, lower memory causes iPod to lag and sometimes reset itself.

Check how much sh*t you got running in MobileSubstrate, that's where the memory losses occur, and get rid of the things you dont need.

If that dont work, restore and try again.

edit: on the 2G this was normal ass it had around 60MB RAM to use, however the 3G has like 200MB so you must have a lot of MS stuff going on..

Thanks, but I don't have a lot of things on mobilesubstrate..

I've had this problem since day 1 of jailbreaking - before I could even download hardly anything.

I'm wondering if it has to do with Rock's OpenSSL.
My friend has the exact same iPod as I do, more crap downloaded on his than I do,
and he's never once had this problem.
He never downloaded that OpenSSL that Rock says you need to download..
    So maybe it's that.
I don't know, I'm still trying to isolate the problem..
    *sigh*

I got rid of Rock, caused so many issues.

Cydia is much more stable and with the 3GS its fast too, so I dont have the issues most other do with it being slow.

My advice, re-jailbreak and remove Rock...thats my advice anyway..

Okay, so I finally restored twice (I read that doing so completely gets rid of the jailbreak - don't know if that's true, but what's the harm?) and I downloaded Cydia instead of Rock.
All was well for a little while, but now it's back to crashing again.

    ^(&@$(*%&)(*)@!!

    A friend told me that I just shouldn't download anything that Cydia tells me to download;
i.e. those Cydia updates deemed "necessary" otherwise errors occur.

Yeah, I'm going to try that.
They've never had the problems I do, so pray this works!
