While playing a game app today, I had my iPod charging at the same time. A few hours later I noticed that the battery was still pretty low. The following error appeared on my PC screen.

    Exact message.
    Power Surge on Hub Port.
A USB device has exceeded the power limits of its hub.

I can't take it back to Apple, it's jailbroken and impossible to restore since iTunes won't recognize it. I've tried all my USB ports. Any suggestions? Any other way to restore firmware?

Try a different PC I guess...

I honestly do not know what else to tell you.

Will it charge on a dock station, or a wall charger?

You could try to PM Technostorm, he knows everything there is to about USB's.

Don't have a wall charger on me or a dock station. My vista laptop won't even recognize it. Is there any other way to restore other than iTunes that I may not know about?

I assume that the other USB slots on your laptop still work. Correct?

Correct. I think it has to do with the iPod, rather then the USB cable. The Apple store won't be to fond of the jailbreak though.

The connection between the ipod and computer is dead basically. It gives me a Power Surge error and refuses to get even recognized by iTunes.

I don't want to turn it off(or in DFU) because then it'll be completely useless since I need to deliver the redsn0w patch through a computer, which is not possible at the moment.

Are you able to SSH into your iPod still?
