Hello, I have had a recent problem with my iPod. It won't charge or connect to the computer with the USB cable. However it does charge with a firewire cable. This happened when I was on vacation and my iPod eventually ran out of battery. I had it all working and then it just stopped charging. It's a jailbroken 1.1.1 that I've had since Christmas and i tried uninstalling my app's, but that wasn't the problem. I can't connect it to restore it either. If you can please help.
    ~Thanks, Jeff

i dont know a fix, but some things that might help are
    restart ur comp
re-install itunes (or upgrade to latest if u dont already have)
    use a different USB cord
use a differnt usb port (make sure its usb 2.0 port too)
if all that fails...then im sry
    hope this helps

How does it charge on firewire? What kind of adaptor do you need for that to work. I have an old ipod Firewire plugin in charger (goes into a socket on the wall) and I would love to use it to charge the ipot.

    Thanks

    1. Put your iPod into force restore mode (Hold Sleep/Wake and home button for 10-15 secs until it shows the connect to itunes logo on screen) It should always do this, as apple put in a secret function so that it saves 5 or so minutes even when it goes dead and wont turn back on normally.
    2. Uninstall itunes.
    3. Reinstall itunes v7.6 from official apple site
    4. restore.

If it doesnt, then first try it on a different pc but with same usb cord.
If that doesnt work, then buy a seperate usb connector there only about $9-$12

    Post if it helped

Well, i've tried hard restore but it seems to never show the connect to itunes. Ive tryed 2 comps. And i've tried reinstalling itunes. and is there anyway to delete all the stuff from a jailbreak using ssh. Not the apps just set the original firmware back.
