Okay, so I had my 3G iPod Nano for about two years and rarely had problems with it. I started having problems syncing it, an error that said "iPod cannot be read from or written to."

I found out I had malware/viruses on my computer. Had that fixed.

My iPod finally synced again, found out it was out of space and finally bought the brand new iPod Touch I always wanted...

and now I am getting that same error all over again. I ran diagnostics, restored, restarted, re-installed... EVERYTHING. I don't know what else to do

    . Anyone have any suggestions?!

ETA: Now it's refusing to restore itself. Great.

Put it in recovery mode, then try a restore.

Hold Select & Menu until reboot
    Hold Select & Play

iTunes should prompt for a restore.

I just tried to sync with my nano, and it went through perfectly.
It's my touch that is the problem.

Now I'm wondering if it's possible to restore it too many times...
After the repeated "cannot read/write to" error, it started prompting to restore every time I plugged it in. Now it won't restore, but continues to ask.

    no such thing

    put it into dfu mode

Hold the sleep/wake and home for 7 seconds
Release JUST sleep/wake continue to hold home
itll ask to plug into itunes
    restore

if it doesnt work its your computer not the ipod, they arent just faulty like that.

Okay, now it has been restored and back to the read/write error.
... and I don't have an apple store anywhere near me.
