    iPod Bricked?! maybe not

I was trying to downgrade a 8GB iPod to 1.1.1. so i could jailbreak it. It gave me the 1604 error. I tried restoring it to 1.1.1., got 1604 error, tried restoring it to 1.1.2. and it gave me 1604 error, then I went on a different computer, and tried restoring it to 1.1.2. 1604 error, tried restoring it to 1.1.1. about three more times, then I tried 3 more times to restore it to 1.1.2.

try restarting both computers, that worked for me. But if that fails, reinstall itunes, if THAT fails, try restoring on a Mac if that fails restart it, if that fails, reinstall itunes. If that fails, then... wow that sucks.

    Upgrade to 7.5.

Seems to be resolved. Unless your already at 7.5...

Try to some of this stuff.

    ALSO!

Does it go through all the steps to restore (Prepare iPod, Restoring iPod, Checking iPod firmware), if it did, then just try booting from recovery mode... works for the iPhone...

And if all that fails, fdisk the ipod, which should automatically put it in backup, and restore from there. Given the memory would then be completely blank, that would narrow the problem area down to either the PC or the iPod hardware, which is highly unlikely.
