Hi guys, i haven't used my touch for a while, and decided i wanted to use it again, couldn't listen to music for some reason, so i thought i might just restore my ipod back to factory settings. I went to itunes and hit restore and it asked if i wanted to update to 2.0.2, i thought stuff it i'll do it as i can't really be bothered jailbreaking it, anyway when i went to restore it said that the firmware was corrupt and couldn't update it.

I had a bit of a look around and tried a few things but it still won't let me restore, it's really frustrasting!!!!

I'm wondering if there is a manual download of the very first firmware i could download and just restore it that way, then i should be able to update to latest.

Or if anyone has any other suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    -disko

EDIT: by the way i'm running firmware 1.1.3 (jailbroken)

I think its possible but very hard to actualy brick it. Putting it into DFU seems to fix these problems most of the time.

Indeed, you're are most certainly correct. It is impossible to brick the iPod (I'm not sure this would even brick it... but just don't SSH and delete every folder in your iPod xO). In any case, stick it in DFU mode, and run a restore:

    DFU mode:

    1) Press down both the Home and Power buttons simultaneously.
    2) Keep both buttons held down for 10 seconds.
    3) After the 10 seconds are up, RELEASE the POWER button, whilst continuing to hold down the Home button.
    4) Release the HOME button after another 10 SECONDS are over (This should have totaled up to 20 seconds of button-pressing).

    Your screen should be black.

    Toodles, Fehr.

What's DFU? I've tried putting it into recovery mode, then trying to update from itunes as well.

The only way you can brick an ipod is if you try to mod the "s-gold chip" which is when you screw up on trying to dual boot or something!

If you have a google search, you should find some apple firmware links.
