i just thought of an awesome idea that has prolly been thought of before but oh well.

ipods/iphones can already be used as computer mouses and keyboards and monitors (VNsea and Touchpad)

but couldnt we take it a step further and give it the ability to control a tv?

idk if this is possible since a normal tv communicates through infared but still its a cool idea.

someone tell me if this is acutally possible.

yeah agreedd with zombie killer , theres no infared like the ones on top of the big old fat psps . so it cant do anything , if we could we would be able to use our ipods to use as a wiimote. since wiimotes are infared lol.

Actually the sensor bar for the Wii is infrared. The controller houses an infrared camera that reads the sensor. It's like shaking your TV at your remote.

I'm sure it's possible people used there psp's to turn on and off tv's wii's lights etc. there is some open source application that does all these things I forget what its called but i'm sure someone out there could port it.

I think you missed the point. The ipot/iphone does not have any infrared ports. This is how remotes communicate with TV's. Not too many devices ship with IR anymore. I remember using my Clie PDA as a remote and it seemed to impress at lot of people at the time.
