I restored the settings on my iPod believing jailbreaking was causing this, but to no avail. Anytime I attempt to run a 3rd party program, it will restart after 3 or so seconds. How do I fix this, because it's really annoying not being able to use any apps.

Try uninstalling the application via SSH, by going to the /Applications/ directory. Then reinstall it.

Alternatively, you could restore your iPod touch.

you will get better help if you explain which version software you have on the device.

Oh. Sorry. 1.1.4 firmware with the 2.0 update.
You sort of need that to get the installer app on a non-jailbroken iPod. Anyway, I think it needs to be jailbroken to SSH, which I think caused the problem. Any other suggestions or am I completely wrong?

You can't have Firmware 1.1.4 with the Firmware 2.0 update? It's one or the other.

    You can't have Installer.app on a non-jailbroken iPod.

Yes, you'll need to have a jailbroken iPod touch to SSH, because you need to install OpenSSH.

And yes, I think you're completely wrong.

I don't know which update you are talkin about, but 2.0 as of right this moment does not support 3rd party apps outside of the AppStore offerings.

    I think you are confused

    Yes I am. lol
That is what I meant. Sorry for the confusion. Now, so its clear:

    I have 2.0,
    AppStore programs restart upon starting.

    Hope thats better.

I would ensure you have the correct firmware, not the ipsw floating around the internet.
If you have nothing to lose just go for a complete restore using iTunes 7.7 and try again.

Try checking the Apple.com forums if you are a concerned consumer, there have been plenty of bugs in the last few days.

Ok, I got the firmware directly from Apple (iTunes download), so I'll take this up on the Apple message boards. Thanks for all the help.
