I am not a developer ... just an iPod user. Serveral applications that I have purchased/downloaded on my iPod (from iTunes) would be very handy if I could also run them on my MacBook Pro. Or if not on my Mac, then on my Windows PC. Seems like a natural application (an emulation?) that I would gladly purchase. Since I am not a programmer I would need a turnkey solution. So anything available?

    That's not possible.

However, there may be applications that do the same thing as your iPod's applications.

Which application are you talking about?

I'm a birder & have an ambitious application iBird Explorer Pro. It's great for carrying in the field (beats a typical book=fieldguide handsdown). But sitting at home reviewing my day in the field it would be nice to have the same tool running on my MacBook Pro.

Another application I use on my iPod, Amazon's Kindle Reader, would be great on the big screen of my Mac.

I was naive thinking that since I can listen to my iPod music under iTunes on my Mac (as well as watch videos that I have downloaded to my iPod), surely I could run iPod applications from my iTunes on my Mac. Boy was I surprised. So it's not possible?

    Thanks, wes

Its not possible, sorry, Unless you use some type of emulator..

Its basically because the programs on the iphone are designed for the iphone's operating system. Just like applications designed for Windows XP computers cant run on Macs.

Sorry buddy! I totally feel ya!

    iPod Application on my Mac

... so is an emulator available to someone like me? Clearly I'm not looking for a programmer's tool (e.g., for testing iPod applications on a Mac or PC).

I can boot my MacBook Pro as either a Mac or a Windows PC. So if I could set up a partition on my HD and install the iPod OS then I would have an iPod emulation on my Mac. I guess my screen would then be formatted as an iPod ... if such an emulation were possible ... and you could rightfully ask, "Why not just use your iPod?" since there would be nothing gained by using my Mac.

Now I don't know why it seemed like such a good idea.

    Thanks,

    wes
