K i just got the ipod 2g yesterday
the wifi worked fine at my cousins house
but as soon as i got home to connect to my home wifi
it failed to connect a couple times then i got i to work
but soon as it locked the wifi was disabled

i tried to connect again after several attempts it worked i was on safari
and had a major freeze and then had to plug it into my xbox to get it to star t charging and then that fixed it

i noticed safari as no longer there wtf! i went into settings and restored everything it came back

now i can no longer connect to wifi i hear ppl have his same problem
none of the threads have an answer
or should i return or exchange my ipod

Are you using WPA encryption? There is a known problem with the 2g with WPA.

If not try canceling the connection with your home wifi (if it is getting one) then try connecting again, turn the wifi off, then back on and try connecting once again. Going through that cycle seems to help a lot of people with this problem.

Hmm try restarting a couple times.

I was using the Remote application, and all of a sudden my wireless just conked out. I just turned my ipod off let it reset its cache, and then restarted it. Everything started working fine again.

I had a similar problem.. Wifi suddenly died on my iPhone 3g 2.0.2 for no reason and wouldn't connect. No problem with connections from all my pcs at home... So after some soul searching I reset my router and removed all security (prev was WPA) and left the WiFi open. Rebooted my iPhone and connected to this unsecure network, then put the WPA security back on and reconnected the iPhone again and it was back to its former wirelessly connected shiny gloriness. I would suggest anyone with WiFi problems try this (reset router, remove WPA security, connect iphone, reinstate WPA security, reconnect) before trying anything else. Looks as though there is a bug in the iPhone's WPA protocol as suggested earlier in this thread.
