Running 2.2.1, what can i jailbreak with and would it be a good idea considering jailbreak apps have been updated? Updating the ipod is NOT an option.

Why is update not an option?
2.x is pretty much obsolete now days, most Cydia apps require 3.o and up same thing is happening on the appstore

Really the update is a very simple/quick process

Just save all your games to iTunes (easy/fast process)
    And shift+restore to 4.0 firmware
