When you restored, did you place it into DFU mode?
Try it once more, you may need to restart the comp.

If this doesn't work, then I'd suggest uninstalling, and then reinstalling iTunes.

These usually remedy it, but there are some cases where the DFU drivers are missing or not installed correctly, but try the above.

Oh, and for the stuck at boot logo, if it was jailbroken with OpenSSH installed, then force reboot (hold both home and power buttons) and then go into WinSCP, open terminal, and run the commands here. (You have to log in repeatedly, it varies when the SSH damaeon kicks in. Usually some seconds to a minute)
    Complete guide here.
    *If not jailbroken, then disregard

So, try all this, or need any help, then post back.

Same prob & RE Getting a new ipod

Hi, I am having exactly the same problem!! Happened a few weeks ago when I added an application to my WORKING IPod with 2.0.1 installed. Now it only turns off when the battery runs down, is stuck on Apple logo and gives same error messages in iTunes as you have already mentioned. i haven't had much luck finding an answer!!

My nearest apple store is a bit of a trek but it's looking like I don't have an option! As far as I know, even if you don't have the receipt, it is under warranty for a year. There is a tiny serial number on the back which lets itunes know how old it is so I don't see why you can't get a replacement.

Once I just set it down a week, and it worked.

@Lawick, restart the comp and try again. It can get repetitive, but give it time and it'll restore with no problem. Be sure to switch USB ports, the iPod is in DFU mode, etc.

As for the jailbreak, there is no official jailbreak for Windows yet, WinPwn, but there are other methods. Recently as yesterday, a method was released for Mac, but WinPwn will need to be updated (usually takes a few days to a week or so)
    Look here.
