After i reboot my iphone or installing something from cydia that requires a respring, it will not open any apps. the app turns grey when tapped, but will not open. The only fix I've seen for this is another respring via SBSettings, but I have to do it everytime.

This problem seems to have even carried over after I did a firmware restore (3.1.3 AND 4.0.1) and a restore from backup. The problem is still there when the device is not jailbroken yet.

    any info will be appreciated.

Edit:: I don't know if this helps, but it started happening after I updated some package in cydia, I forget the exact name, but I think it started with "lib," but it was no extra theme or tweak that I installed.

You have to restore, then set it up as a new iPhone, DON'T restore from backup.

Great. is there an easy way to back up my notes and contacts first? maybe by SSH? I don't mind going through angry birds again, but I need my notes and contacts
