You cannot use an iPhone on Verizon. Period. Just switch carriers and get over it.

idk, if he is right about the storm you might be able to, I have no idea, but why buy an expensive smart phone just so you can ditch it for another expensive smart phone.

Or maybe that is an option for the international plan so you can use GSM networks outside of the US with Verizon?

Yeah, I'll go with that one.

And on to the second point, the iPhone has a GSM radio and the Verizon network is not GSM.

    So again, no. Switch carriers.

They are all right. Verizon simply does not broadcast the same way AT&T or T-Mobile do. Even if the Storm has a verizon branded SIM card, it simply wont connect. THe iphone does not have the internal hardware needed to make it work.

Yeah apparently Apple went to Verizon with the iPhone before they went to AT&T and they got turned down, stupid decision. Verizon "thought [they] could do a touch screen smart phone better"

CDMA is what verizon uses. A lot of verizon phones are GSM capable but its only used for international use. Someone who bought an international verizon phone would have a GSM "sim-card" in there phone, but it would only be used outside of the US. While in the US the phone would switch back to CDMA.

So it will work on verison but only outside of the US. Maybe someone could trick the iphone/verison sim with a sim poxy so it thinks its roaming outside the US, But then you would have massive roaming charges. Then theres probably some legal issues with that too?
