So my mom just upgraded her iPhone 3G to the new iOS 4, and everything was wiped. Her contacts, apps, music, calender with appointment dates, notes, everything. Is there anything we could/should try to get her info back?

    Have you synced it back?

Whenever you connect your iPhone to iTunes it automatically backs up your data. So now that she has updated her OS when you connect iTunes should ask you if you want to restore from backup. When you connect you iPhone to iTunes and you pit music, apps and info on your phone, that's what we refer to as syncing.

(v)atrex3G beat me to the reply! Anyway, his advice is accurate because that's what I did when upgrading my iPoT 3gen to iOS 4.

Of course everything will be wiped out to a blank slate initially and after that, a second sync will then transfer the data from the last sync back to the iGadget. Therefore, there shouldn't be any issue with loss of data when installing iOS 4 to your device!

Some stuff like her contacts, notes, and calender weren't synced.
