So i recently got yet another iphone, but this one was faulty. So i preceded to head down to the apple store after making an appointment, i was given a replacement iphone. My question is, "Is the iphone i was given unlocked" cause the guy just put in my sim card and plugged it into a macbook and it was working. Is it unlocked?

What is the process of locking it to a carrier, cause i could have chosen any carrier and the phones at first are not locked towards any carrier, it was unactivated but then he popped in the sim card and it became active with my carrier

Where do you live? If you live in the US they are locked to ATT so if you had an ATT sim card he probably just activated the phone.

Rogers is the company that Apple has chosen to be locked to the iPhone in Canada.

If your had an Factory Unlocked iphone ,he should have give you an factory unlocked iphone. If not go to the store again and tell you want an factory unlocked one.

If you recieved your phone with your contract, it is locked to Rogers.

Where did you buy it from? Did the place where you bought it from advertise them as factory unlocked or just as the regular iPhone? If they didn't advertise it like that than you had a locked iPhone if they did then your iPhone was factory unlocked and you should go back and get what is rightfully yours.
