So, I'm planning on buying an iPhone 4, but don't want to use it on AT&T. So I'm wondering if its cheaper to just buy an unlocked iPhone or buy one and cancel the contract within the 1st 30 days to avoid At&t's termination fee

AT & T / USA only sells locked phones, so you would have to import one from any country that sells unlocked iPhone 4.

And you must pay the activation fee which is thirty dollars just to buy the phone. It is really easier to buy a 4th generation iPod touch.

He wants an iphone 4, not an ipod touch

You can unlock locked phones, hence the word unlock

@cubsfan, would the method of canceling the contract early work for unlocking it or is there an easier way?
