Okay, due to a huge misfortune my iPhone 3GS screen shattered, I have an old iPhone 3GS, and I was wondering if I could simply swap the screens out and be all dandy? If so I'm really not sure how I would go about it, help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

its really hard but could be done

but just to quickly run you through it:

you need to open both phones up, remove the innards, use a hairdryer to heat up the glue and remove the screens, then switch them.

but to remove the back you need to jam a screw driver under the screen which could break the screen that right now is fine

If you have another good 3GS, why don't you just use that phone instead of risking breaking two of them even more?

The battery is shorted on the other one lol
I just realized though, it's probably much easier to swap the batteries. But I'm not even sure that's it, my friend left it in my car and It got extremely hot.

Don't remove the glue. Simply remove the 6 secrews holding the font panel galss to the LCD on both phones and replace them this way.

Ok, then heres what you do:
Make sure the phone is off
1 Remove the two screws at the bottom
    2. Use a suction cup or a thin razor blade to lift the screen. Carefuly tho because the screen is connected
    3. Remove Ribbon #1, Ribbon #2, and gently lift (should b a white piece) up and slide out ribbon #3
    4. The LCD/Front Panel Glass should be off now
    5. Reasemble the phones by switching their LCD's/Front Panel Glass
    6. Start with Ribbon #3 and slide it in. Once it's in lock it with the lock by pushing it down. Connect Ribbon #2 and Ribbon #1
    7. Insert the glass in the order which it came off. So start with the top and gently push in the sides untill it pops back in
    8. Put the screws at the bottom back
    9. Fire this baby up and see if everythings ok
