So my brother got the new iPhone 4 and is going to give me his old iPhone 3G so I don't have to use my crappy Blackberry Pearl any more.
My Question is: can i just put my sim card in it and re-activate via iTunes or will I have to bring it to AT$T and let them activate it or is there something else I would have to do?

Well, if you don't mind having AT&T, then I would suggest going to AT&T because it's always best to let the pros do stuff with activations and stuff. But if you want to get another Carrier, then watch some YouTube videos or something and learn how to Jailbreak it and Unlock the SIM card. Then have some fun with it!

yeah im not gonna unlock it cause I have ATT dont mind the data plan and I really dont wanna have to wait for a new unlock to install iOS updates. I was just wondering if it was possible for me to activate it (legitly, not hacktivate or unlock or anything like that) at home or if id have to take it to att

If you already have an ATT sim you can activate it at home
