If I buy a 3g then jailbreak can I use a tmobile sim card in it and have the phone work perfect?
I have and I can't seem to find my answer!!
yes but you will also have to use yellowsn0w http://blog.iphone-dev.org/post/67797811/dont-eat-yellowsn0w
Yes. Jailbreak first, then get yellowsn0w from Cydia, and it should work 95% perfect.
Something to keep in mind though:
# Yellowsn0w will NOT work with the baseband version (02.30.03) that is present in the recent 2.2.1 update. If you want to use Yellownsn0w you will need to create and restore using a custom .ipsw that will allow you to update safely to 2.2.1 without applying the 02.30.03 baseband update. You’ll then have a 3G iPhone running 2.2.1 with an older baseband version that is still vulnerable to yellowsn0w, following these steps ensures that yellowsn0w will still operate.
ok so what ur saying is that if i buy it with the new update i ahve to down grade to 2.2.1 and if i have one beofre 2.3 i have do not update right??....and i need help trying to find i good iphone 3g that is cheap!! i relly would love some help
As long as the phone you get isn't with the FW 2.2.1 (or it's baseband hasn't been upgraded), then you can unlock.
If the phone was updated to Firmware 2.2.1 through iTunes, then you can not unlock the phone through yellowsn0w, and might not ever be able to.
oh so if i go buy a phone right now i wont be able to unlock? casue it will be running 2.2.1 right?
I believe so, yes. That is if it's brand new from Apple.
Though there may be other ways to unlock it, such as getting a sim card to fake your iPhone which would cost you $30-50.
oh ok so i need to find one on ebay that is already unlcoked and...do the same rule applies to the first gen ipod?
