my buddy bought an iphone after seeing my touch and we're having trouble downgrading to 1.1.1 for jailbreaking. I tried using the same software as i used for my touch but it doesn't seem to work. does anyone know the proper file for downgrading an iphone?

    .......

alright i tried the method from that site to no avail. apparently it only works for iphones with old bootloaders. my friends got his today, possibly with new bootloader. we ran through the process anyway just to see and it didn't work out. has anyone heard of new methods for the new bootloader?

Actually, I believe there's seperate firmware for the iPhone vs. the iPod Touch which might be your problem... seen others doing that..

There is a separate firmware. There is a thread around here somewhere that details that jailbreaking an iPod touch is easy, but jailbreaking an iPhone is a b***h because of the fact it has 2 different firmwares, the 1.1.2 and something else.
