So someone brought up that he wants a iPhone as a pay as you go phone. So I googled it but nothing but articals in england are talking about it.

My question is, is there a iPhone pay as you go deal in America yet, or is it only in England?

No, there is no pay as you go in America, and probably never will be.

Have to wait for the Dev team to come up with the unlocking software for the 3G. So A PAYG sim Will Work

    ..no you don't?
Did you even read what you just posted?
The iPhone is locked to accept AT&T SIM cards, so a PAYG one would still be accepted, as long as you activate.
The activation is done by iTunes and usually requires you to have an iPhone-specific plan, but you can "hacktivate" using PwnageTool or QuickPwn.

I was gonna get an iPhone and do PAYG in US. I added up everything though and it was like $500-$600 dollars. The iPhone, the termination fee, the PAYG phone for the sim card, and the first month's plan.

I think it's worth it if you aren't going to use the phone a lot, I just can't afford it right now.

For the PAYG sim card to work, you need the iphone to be activated, and the only way you can get the phone activated is to sign up to a contract via itunes. At the moment, the 3G cannot be unlocked.

I think there is a PAYG option in Italy as well.
