Will the iPod Touch get an upgrade when OS 3 comes out, or will we be stuck on 2.x for a while?

They say accounting rules require it, because they don't report profit from the sales on a subscription basis. I guess that means that bluray player manufacturers, the PS3, XBox etc break up the profits of unit sales overtime since they provide new features for free.

Apple has done this before. A few years ago they started putting 802.11n chips in their systems, but you had to pay them $1.99 to enable n compatibility.
