Battery voltage sounds to low. It should be around 3.2v or a little more. I would leave it on the charger for a while before trying to turn it on. A phone needs a battery to help power it on. A lot of phones now days wont power on unless the battery has sufficient charge in it, even if it is plugged in. Its a current draw thing that USB just cant supply.

Hook it up to the charger before you go to bed, and in the morning, leaving the charger attached, try and turn it on again. You can also try to reset the phone by going through the motions you would for DFU. Connect it to your computer. If it makes the "ding ding" connected noise, chances are your screen is fried but the unit may still be ok. Had many a phone come in for a faulty battery and leave with a new screen and the old battery
