The new iPhone 4G looks great. The old iPhone 3G/3GS looked very un-Appleish. All the Macbooks, iMacs, Mac Pro, iPads, and iPod touches have a similar design. Just the iPhone that didn't fit in. Now it looks just like every other apple product and Apple-ish.
But even the iPad has curve bottom. That is my main concern they had the curve bottom so it could fit your hand better. They got rid of the flat bottom from the first iPhone and iPod touch. Why are they going to a step backward. You get me? And to the person that says it looks like the iPad nano I don't see it unless you are saying the 1st gen. Nano then nevermind. But Apple should move forward with their design and not backwards. You can't have a laptop with the curve design it doesn't make sense because you don't put it in your hand like an iPhone
I.. sort of understand what you're saying, though I don't agree. It's just a different form. Since when did curvier = future?
Who said anything about the curve being the future? I don't think a flat device fits firm in anybody's hand. The iPhone 2G wasn't flat like that. I'd prefer that body over the one in that picture.
Well, when you say that going from a flat back to curved back and then back to a flat back is 'taking a step backwards', it sort of implies that if they were to 'take a step forward' then they would need to keep their boring 2 year old curve design.. or make it.. curvier. And I don't see how having a flat back won't fit firm in someone's hand. Let's say you're walking around, holding your phone in your hand, so you have a decent grip on it, the part of the phone that you're mainly gripping are the edges. Unless you have 4 fingers on the back of your iPhone and the thumb on the screen, I don't really see how a flat back would disrupt anything.
That is the problem with people now-a-days always assuming. Don't assume what a person is saying. You are taking my words and saying something I never said at all. The phone is supposed to be bigger am I right? IF the phone comes with a flat back and you hold it firmly in your hand it won't go to your palm like this iPhone does. Because of the curved back.
If putting a flat back means to 'take a step back' what would they need to do to 'take a step forward'? And no, it's not bigger, at least not noticeably. The only size difference that I could see is that it's a bit thinner than the 3GS. When holding my iPod Touch firmly, the pressure is on the sides, so, in my opinion, it won't matter whether there's a flat back or curved back. I guess it depends on how you hold it. But still, I don't think a flat back is something that will cause discomfort or anything.
Don't ask me what Apple needs to do to step forward. I'm not their designers. I could have sworn when they got hold of the first one that they had the iPhone 3Gs right next to the new one and well it was larger than the 3Gs. And now we are talking about discomfort. Well any squared object is uncomfortable. Especially one that doesn't bend, like metal or plastic. But a curved object, lets say a ball fits better in ones hand better than a box would. Now don't come at me with size. Lets say a block the same size as an iPhone all squared is in my hand and I hold it firmly in my hand it'll cause discomfort. Because of the hard edges.
Oh, so you can easily say when they are taking a step backwards, but you can't say what they can do to take a step forward? Here's something a little clearer: Flat -- Curved And since you say that going from curved to flat is taking a step back, that means going from right to left is going back. So taking a step forward is, theoretically, going in the opposite direction, from left to right. So wouldn't that mean that you believe they need it to be curved or curvier (somehow) for them to take a step forward? I guess they can go past curved, but I don't know what that could be.. ripples? Anyways, no, the 4G seems the same size to me [picture]. Maybe you see something that I don't, but whatever. And I agree, I guess something with corners would be less comfortable with a firm grip. But personally, I never have a firm grip on my iPod or phone. They're both always in my pocket, unless I'm changing a song on my iPod or texting on my phone.
Will the new iPhone have a normal SIM holder too, or will there be different versions of the iPhone, as in one for micro and one for normal?
