Hey guys i had an ipod touch for a while and i jail broke it but recently i got an iphone 3g. basically i was wondering:
Can i jail break my iphone 3g? if so, can someone link me how to?
    Can i unlock it?
What does unlock even mean and is it riskier than jailbreaking? what are the benifits from unlcoking it?

    thx alot

Welcome mhester. Do some searches on the forums here and you will find most of the answers you are looking for..

    in a nutshell:

-3G can be jailbroken - jailbreak allows you to install non app store applications and opens up the device for direct access.
-there is not yet an unlock for the 3G. Iphone dev team is supposed to release an unlock New Years eve...depending upon your firmware and baseband it may or may not work. Unlock allows you to insert a sim from another carrier (such as tmobile) and use it on that carriers network.
