Since IPHONE users are getting version 1.1 tonight, which will essentially wipe out all apps.

Maybe InstallerApp guys will make an available version for 1.1 - which will then mean we can install that to the touch ?

    Thoughts?

No they didn't guarantee that. Apple said that they didn't care if you installed other applications on the iphone and that they would not purposely try to break those apps when they release software updates. BUT if the software updates break the applications, it's not apple's problem. That is what they said. Here is what Apple said:

"Apple takes a neutral stance - they're not going to stop anyone from writing apps, and they're not going to maliciously design software updates to break the native apps, but they're not going to care if their software updates accidentally break the native apps either."

And what is promising is that after the iPhone/o2 announcement today, Steve Jobs said that they are looking at the applications made for the iPhone closely, paying particular attention to those that do not use the internet, as they are a security risk. That those types of applications would be the ones that would receive official Apple endorsement, should they choose to later allow/endorse.

After Apple said they are taking a "neutral stance" against hacking, didn't they come out and say after that they're going to stop hacking of the iPhone?

As far as I know apple said that they won't
intentionally break 3rd party apps but they woudnt mind if new firmware breaks it. Although today Steve hinted at the fact that they might go after the unlock software.
