    Quote from Martin Schrotz:

''I modified my iPhone 3GS because I didn't like the feel of the plastic back. It took me a couple of month to do it, and as I never dismantled an iPhone.

Basically I designed a new back cover for the 3GS. I had the original cover measured digitally, and I then started to draw the new cover in CAD. It's made out of a special titanium alloy that is RF transparent. I had tried aluminum but that was a complete disaster.

All in all I'm very happy with it, although there are some little things I need to fix before everything fits perfectly

i like it. could have done with a bit more creativity though. you know, such as a design or some lettering. although i'm not sure how hard that would have been.

Yes, but I have big compliments for this, because it´s hand made.
Really like the idea and design of course.

How is it hand made if he made it in CAD?!

Gizmodo is calling "fake" on this one due to the expense and resources it would require to make this and the claim at "RF transparent Titanium" which doesn't exist. It's a nice dream though. There is a thread at modmyi where the creator seems to be active.

the Video he promised is up at Engadget. So it's not just a fancy hyper-real render and it appears to be able to make a call but he doesn't explain how he changed the orientation on the silent toggle or anything more about this Titanium Alloy he used.

I HATE THE APPLE LOGO ON IT!

If there was a cut-out and the chrome'd logo from the 1st gen iPhone was popped in then it would look awesome.......

(since the logo on the 1st gen was separate from the metal housing.)

Or maybe the same chromed logo from the 1st gen but one that was painted in glossy black, as to mimic the iMac logo and such...

or he could have made the logo same size on as it is on iphone or a little bit bigger and made it black like the iPad, or even have it light up like the mac book pro's (use the screens display as the light so it saves space and battery

Except there is the motherboard thing-y and battery between the screen's back-light and the back... sorry.

There even is a youtube video about this; showing it can call and works.
You can't edit 24 frames per second.
    I believe this's real & I think it's cool
